How it works
- Link Steam. Sign in through Steam’s official OpenID flow in a popup window. HourFarming only ever sees your Steam ID and public profile — never your password.
- Comment on members. Claim a profile waiting in the queue and write a genuine comment on it — your own words, about a real profile. Come back and tell HourFarming you’re done.
- Earn points & get comments back. HourFarming reads the profile to confirm your comment landed, then pays out points once it has stayed up for 3 days. Spend the points to queue your own profile for a comment from someone else, or buy a point pack to skip ahead.
Why manual comments are the safe way to trade them
Automated “comment bot” services exist, and they carry a real risk the exchange is built to avoid: a script posting on your behalf leaves a pattern — identical or near-identical phrasing repeated across many profiles, comments landing in unnatural bursts, timing no human types at. That is exactly the kind of spam fingerprint Valve and the Steam community both watch for, and accounts caught leaving it risk having comments removed, being reported, or worse.
HourFarming’s exchange never posts a single comment for you. A member reads someone else’s profile and writes a comment themselves, in their own words, at their own pace — the same action anyone takes browsing Steam normally. It costs a few minutes of actual typing per comment instead of an API call, and that is precisely what keeps every comment on the exchange looking like what it is: a real person, leaving a real comment.
What points actually do
Points are the only currency on the exchange, and there are exactly two ways to get them. Write a genuine, long-enough comment on a claimed profile and, once it has survived the 3-day confirmation window, you earn points for it. Or buy a point pack directly if you’d rather skip straight to spending — pack sizes and prices are shown in the app before you buy anything.
Spending is just as simple: queue your own profile and points cover the cost, another member picks it up, writes a comment, and it lands on your profile once verified. Your balance and every request’s status — waiting, claimed, or done — are visible the whole time.
Comment exchange questions
Is the Steam comment exchange safe for my account?
Every comment on the exchange is typed by a real member reading a real profile — HourFarming never posts anything on your behalf. That is the opposite of automated comment-bot services, which leave an obvious machine fingerprint (identical phrasing, burst-timed posts) for Valve or the community to flag. One person, reading one profile, writing one comment looks exactly like normal Steam activity, because it is normal Steam activity.
Does trading comments break Steam’s rules?
No. Leaving a comment on another member’s profile is ordinary Steam behavior available to anyone with a Steam account. What would be against the rules is automating that action, and HourFarming never does — every comment that earns or spends points was typed by a human, on their own account, through the normal Steam website.
Why do my profile comments need to be set to Public?
Steam sets new accounts’ profile comments to friends-only by default. Comments have to be Public for two reasons: other members in the exchange need to be able to leave one on your profile at all, and HourFarming verifies a comment landed by reading the public profile — a friends-only comments section is invisible to that check. Steam → Settings → Privacy → Comments → Public.
How are comments verified?
After you write a comment on a profile you claimed, you tell HourFarming you’re done and it reads that profile’s public comments to confirm yours actually landed and meets the length requirement. That confirms the comment exists — it doesn’t pay out immediately. It then watches for 3 days to make sure the comment stays up before points are credited.
What happens if someone deletes a comment before it’s confirmed?
Points for that comment are not paid. Every earned comment sits in a 3-day confirmation window specifically so a comment removed right after being verified — whether by accident or on purpose — doesn’t earn points. A comment that stays up for the full window pays out automatically.
Do I need to farm Steam hours to use the comment exchange?
No. The comment exchange is a separate product from HourFarming’s hour farming — it runs on the same account and the same sign-in, but nothing needs to be farming hours for you to link Steam, earn points by commenting, or queue your own profile for comments.
